    What are the requirements for being a thawte Reseller Partner?

    You need to be established as an ISP, Hosting Company or Reseller of digital certificates. You should have several sites already hosted on your network, requiring secure access, secure mail, e-commerce enablement or transactional capabilities. As a general yardstick, you should require a minimum of 2 thawte digital certificates per year - this includes SSL Web Server Certificates, SSL Web Server Wildcard Certificates, SGC SuperCerts, SSL123 Certificates and Code Signing Certificates.

    We welcome any size company into the Program.

    How do I join the thawte Reseller Partner Program?

    Complete the online enrollment form (please click here). Once your application has been submitted, the dedicated Account Manager for your region will activate your account and contact you within one working day.

    What is an order number?

    This is an example of an order number: ZATHAW9. The first 2 letters represent the country of the request e.g. South Africa = ZA. The following 4 letters represent the first letters of the organization name e.g. thawte = THAW. The number at the end represents the amount of requests with the same coding already in our database e.g. ZATHAW9 means that there are 8 requests in the database with the order number ZATHAW and ZATHAW9 is the 9th. When a certificate gets renewed a '-' plus the number of times it's been renewed gets allocated e.g. ZATHAW9-1 means it's been renewed once. ZATHAW9-3 means it been renewed 3 times etc…

    How do I reissue a certificate?

    This is for FREE for the lifespan of the certificate. Please refer to our Knowledge Base Solution number SO4452

    How do I add a certificate into my account?

    You need to contact your Account Manager directly or e-mail the team at resellersales@thawte.com and we will be able to transfer any certificates into your account.

    Why do I receive error messages when trying to enroll?

    This could be for a few reasons. Perhaps you did not enter a valid credit card when paying, or perhaps the card is not actually considered a credit card. Perhaps your CSR is incorrect, or you are using an old CSR.

    What documentation do my clients need on enrollment?

    SSL Web Server Certificates, SSL Web Server Wildcard Certificates and SGC SuperCerts require a 3 factor authentication process.

    The 3 fundamentals we check are the company name, the domain name and the telephone number for the business. For more, info e-mail resellersupport@thawte.com.

    • However, this is NOT required for SSL123 Certificates.

    How do I receive my discount?

    In order to receive your Reseller Partner Program discounts, you need to ensure that you are logged into your Reseller Console at all times of the enrollment process, make sure that every page says "Reseller Partner Program" at the top of the page. You receive your discount when purchasing your tokens/certificates.

    Where do I find the Reseller Partner pricing?

    Request a complete Reseller Partner Program discount table from your Account Manager or e-mail us at resellersupport@thawte.com.

    Where can I get technical assistance?

    The Reseller Partner Program has a dedicated support centre. All queries can be sent to resellersupport@thawte.com. Alternatively, you can use the live chat tool on this page.

    Can my customers purchase their certificates through the Reseller Partner Program Console?

    Yes they can. Simply contact your Account Manager, or send an e-mail to resellersupport@thawte.com and you will be provided with a link that allows your customers to enroll for certificates without using a token, through our Reseller Partner Program Console. Please remember that these certificates will not be issued, until a token is purchased and the certificate request has been settled.

    How do I view all the certificates in my account?

    Click on "product manager" and select the month and year your certificates that you want to view were requested in.

    How do I view all the available tokens in my account?

    Click on “available tokens” situated on the left hand side navigation

    Why do I need to purchase a token before obtaining a certificate?

    This is to provide you with your Reseller Partner Program discount, as well as to ensure that your clients do not have access to your pricing. The main reason is to allow you to prepay for your certificates and receive a larger discount with larger orders. You can also pay-as-you-go where you will be prompted for your credit card details and will be charged at the entry-level discount.

    How do I get immediate assistance?

    Log into your Reseller Partner Program Console and click on the Partner Live Chat button for immediate assistance. If the button is green then there is someone available to assist, if it is red, simply leave an e-mail message and you will receive a response as soon as possible.

    How do I request a certificate without a token?

    Click on ‘certificate enrollments’ click on the ‘purchase’ or ‘renew’ button for the product that you need to request. Complete the certificate enrollment and you will be prompted for your credit card details and will be charged at the entry-level discount.

    How do I apply payment to an unsettled certificate?

    What information can I place on my website to streamline the documentation process for my customers?

    Ask your Account Manager for a document that provides you with all the information your clients will need.

    When should I prepay?

    In order to receive a larger discount, we recommend that you prepay for your certificates. The more certificates you purchase at one time, the greater your discount. You should prepay when you need to purchase more than one certificate at a time. It is always a good idea to check on the renewals you have for the coming year and prepay for these renewal tokens to receive a better discount. Please contact your Account Manager for an assessment.

    What could be the reasons for not being able to renew my certificate?

  • Ensure that you have selected the 'renew' button under ‘certificate enrollments’
  • Ensure that you click on the correct product
  • Ensure that the request in under your Reseller Partner Account
  • Ensure that you have entered the correct order number
